Steinway Model B Art Case Grand Piano

This exquisite 1936 Steinway Model B was crafted during the Golden Age of Steinway manufacturing, a period celebrated for exceptional materials, craftsmanship, and tonal quality. According to Steinway’s records, this is a rare art case English style piano, sketch model 897-B. Very few pianos were ever produced in this style, making it an especially desirable collector’s piece. Not only is this an incredible work of art, but it is a remarkable and phenomenal-sounding and playing instrument that was rebuilt by Paul Lindenblad, master rebuilder from the renowned Lindenblad family of New Jersey. His restoration included a reinforced and revarnished soundboard, regilded plate, new pinblock, new tuning pins, new strings, new dampers, new felts, and bridge caps. He also regulated and voiced the action to a high performance level. The action saw very little playing time as the piano served primarily as an exquisite furniture piece rather than a serious playing instrument. The piano was also completely refinished and has been meticulously maintained, preserving its beautiful Art Case presentation and musical integrity.

Since the time of the rebuild, the piano saw little to no playing time. Sonny’s Pianos came into possession of the piano recently and had our master technician go over the case. Then just a few weeks ago, piano was regulated and voiced to a concert-stage, professional performance level by master tuner/technician Asami Alberti, resulting in a rich, clear, sublime, full spectrum tone and exceptional responsive action.
